Reminder: We will NOT have Girls on the Run during the week of April 1st - 7th due to Spring Break
Lesson 5 In Lesson 5, we will have fun exploring our emotions. The girls learn to figure out what they feel and how to deal with their feelings in a healthy way. The girls even pretend they are “emotion detectives”! Questions and Conversation Starters: 1. What are some emotions you felt this week? 2. What are ways we can deal with uncomfortable emotions? Lesson 6 In Lesson 6, we talk about ways we can keep our physical bodies healthy by choosing to eat healthy food, drink water, exercise, and practice self-care. We also practice pacing ourselves while running. Each girl’s goal before next time is to choose to do a healthy habit she does not usually do. Try helping her choose healthy! Questions and Conversation Starters: 1 Name some healthy habits we do every day. 2. What can we do to be more physically healthy? 5K Registration Information

In Lesson 3, the girls practice using their imagination to think, feel, and behave in a positive way. We lead them through an activity that allows them to imagine dark clouds as any negative thoughts or messages. They will blow the dark clouds away and learn to let the star within them shine bright! Questions and Conversation Starters: 1. What is something special about you that gives you star power? 2. How can you use your imagination to help you at home or at school? Lesson 4 In Lesson 4, we discuss self-talk—what we think in our minds about ourselves or say aloud to others about ourselves. While each girl runs with a friend, they practice how to catch and challenge negative self-talk by coming up with ways to change from negative to positive self-talk. Each girl’s goal before next time is to practice this. Try helping her think positive! Questions and Conversation Starters: 1. What is negative self-talk? 2. Let’s think of a signal or sound to use when we catch each other saying something negative about ourselves! Lesson 1
To kick off this season with Lesson 1 of Girls on the Run (GOTR), we come together as a team and celebrate special things about each other and ourselves. We also think of ways we can help make our GOTR team be a great place for all of us to feel safe, learn and grow. Questions and Conversation Starters: 1. Tell me about GOTR energy awards! 2. Let’s name one special thing about each other. Lesson 2 In Lesson 2, we discuss the values and choices that are important at Girls on the Run and other areas of our lives. We also learn to stop and think about why we do the things we do. As you guessed it, we include the power of running (and/or walking, skipping, hopping, or dancing) and having fun! Questions and Conversation Starters: 1. How do you show you are choosing to be a Girl on the Run? 2. What did you learn about yourself this week at GOTR? Thank you parents/guardians for allowing us to get to know these amazing girls. We are all so proud and honored to have had the opportunity to get to know them and be a tiny part in their lives. We hope to see everyone next season for Spring! Keep letting those stars shine brightly girls!
Coach Jamie Coach Raena Coach Angela Lesson 20
The theme for Lesson 20 was our GOTR toolbox. Today was the last official day of Girls on the Run before the closing celebration. This lesson allowed girls the time to reflect on their favorite memories from the season by creating a “highlight reel” and reviewing the skills they have learned over the past 10 weeks. They did this by looking over their Identity Card and applying the skills on their card to a variety of situations, such as a new student coming to their school. During the workout, they shared what they like about themselves and Girls on the Run. Today’s GOTR GOAL was to tell someone what they have learned in Girls on the Run this season and to practice using the tools in their GOTR toolbox. Thank you for a wonderful season and we look forward to seeing the girls at the 5k Celebration! Questions and Conversation Starters:
Lesson 21 Lesson 21 is our Final Celebration! The girls can bring a treat to share - don't forget your GOTR shirts! |
